Prophet Muhammad (s.a) said: Islam is based on (the following) five principles
1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad s.a is Allah's apostle.
2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.
3. To pay zakat (i.e obligatory charity)
4. To perform Hajj (i.e pilgrimage to Mecca)
5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.
[Sahih Bukhari, book 2, number 7]
Prophet Muhammad (s.a) said: "When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His throne, "My Mercy over powers my anger." [Bukhari, Volume 4, Number 416]
Prophet Muhammad (s.a) said: Both legal and illegal things are obvious, and in between them are (suspicious) doubtful matters. So whoever forsakes these doubtful things lest he may commit sin, will definitely avoid what is clearly illegal, and whoever indulges in these (suspicious) doubtful things bravely, is likely to commit what is clearly illegal. Sins are Allah's Hima (private pasture) and whoever pastures (his sheep) near it, is likely to get in it at any moment. [Bukhari, Book 34, Number 267]
Prophet Muhammad (s.a) said: Whoever severs the bond of kinship will not enter paradise.
[Sahih Bukhari, book 73, number 13]
Prophet Muhammad (s.a) said: Never a believer is stricken with discomfort, hardship or illness, grief or even with mental worry, that his sins are not expiated for him. [Muslim, Book 32, Number 6242]
The Prophet (s.a) said: "A man felt very thirsty while he was on the way, there he came across a well. He went down the well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, 'This dog is suffering from thirst as I did'. So, he went down the well again and filled his shoes with water and watered it (the dog). Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him." The people said, "O Allah's apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?" He replied "Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate (i.e living being). [Bukhari, Volume 3, Number 646]
